Foundation Repair

In 2014 we were called in to stabilize the foundation on a residence in Ormond Beach, Florida.  This house had signs of severe settling, stair step cracks on the exterior walls, separation between interior walls and ceilings and doors and windows that were not opening and closing properly.   We worked with a structural engineer to develop a plan of repair.   When excavation began, we discovered two unexpected situations, someone had already attempted a repair using a different anchoring system and there was a lot of organic matter under the slab.   The foundation was poured over tree, tree limbs and brush that was cleared from the lot.   Over time the wood decomposed and water began to fill the voids under the foundation.  We even found a massive tree truck below the slab that had to be removed.   We even found evidence that concrete had been poured below the house in a failed attempt to stop the settling.

We removed much of the rotting organic matter and installed AB Chance Helical Piers along the perimeter of the residence.   We were able to stabilize the foundation and raise the rear of the house by over three inches.
